About our two centres:


Proudly managed on behalf of Broken Hill City Council, Broken Hill Regional Aquatic Centre is a year-round multi-purpose facility that comprises four swimming pools, water slide, gym and extensive café and retail space. https://www.ymcansw.org.au/centres/broken-hill-regional-aquatic-centre/our-centre/ 

 

Owned by the Y NSW and located in the heart of town, Broken Hill Integrated Wellness Centre is an extensive health and wellness centre that includes two large gym areas, group fitness studio, spin room, creche, café and retail. The centre also includes two tenants that provide disability services and primary health services.
Built in the early 1900’s, the centre features a blend of heritage and modern-day architecture. In January 2019, the centre opened after a $5.4 million redevelopment which was largely funded by the NSW Government.

About your new role:


Reporting to the Area Manager, the Cluster Centre Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the two recreation centres within their remit, in particular, driving business and programs within the operating budget and contract compliance requirements.

The Cluster Manager has responsibility for staff management, financial planning, management and reporting, sales and marketing, risk management, program and service development including strong evaluation techniques and strategies.

 

Most importantly we are looking for the right person who can create key community connections with local organisations to ensure our centres continually meet the needs of the local community.
We are looking for a dynamic, natural born leader with significant management experience in the recreation, leisure, fitness or sport industry to drive the success of our sites in Broken Hill.

 

You will have an understanding of and experience in developing and delivering community-based recreation, wellbeing and activity-focused programs in the community.
The successful candidate will also have the skills to manage, develop, inspire and motivate staff across the portfolio. You will come with a reputation for thinking strategically with substantial commercial acumen. 
The role will see you working across the two locations and leading the senior management team which consists of a mixture of coordinators and team leaders. You will also be required to meet contractual obligations that relate to the management of the Aquatic Centre on Council’s behalf. 
 

What you will come with:

 

  • Significant industry knowledge and experience of at least 3 - 5 years facility management responsibility at Manager; Assistant Manager; Centre Co-ordinator; or similar level
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills including written and verbal reporting
  • Knowledge of Community Recreation
  • Knowledge of Facility Contract Management
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Experience in financial management including developing and managing budgets
  • Highly developed observation and reporting skills
  • Ability to direct and oversee the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate programs, both centre-based and community-hosted, which reflect the needs of the local community.
  • First Aid and CPR qualifications


Given the unique nature of the recreation industry, candidates must be flexible to meet the needs of the Centre including some early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays work as required.
