About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Youth Worker who is passionate about Youth Work and has a knack for connecting with community and establishing new programs.
The position will be based at Broken Hill and work with the Youth Program Coordinator to develop and deliver a range of youth programs and activities across the Broken Hill LGA.
You will also support our Coordinator to build our Y Space Online platform, a one-stop directory for all things Youth in Broken Hill so it would be awesome if you are comfortable on a computer.
The successful candidate will support other youth initiatives delivered by the Y NSW including events and community-based activities.
Essential Criteria
- Experience working within a challenging environment and delivering outreach programs & activities.
- Minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work, Community Services or related field
- Strong administration skills and use of technology (experience with wordpress is an advantage)
- Demonstrated ability working in a performance driven environment to meet performance targets and funding requirements.
- Understanding of current issues facing young people, particularly Broken Hill youth.
- Ability to work individually with minimal supervision and part of a team
- Confident to lead and participate in recreation activities.
- HLTAID004/ HLTAID012- Current First Aid and HLTAID009/ HLTAID001- Current CPR
- Working with Children Check (Employee)
- Current driver's licence with own car
Desirable
- 2 + years' experience working with vulnerable young people in a community setting
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation skills, assisting and supporting young people with complex issues, in group settings and one on one.
- Experience in facilitating in sporting and recreation activities.
