East Gymnastics (powered by The Y) has a fabulous team of qualified coaches who are all passionate about gymnastics, coaching, children and creating a fun. 

 

Between us we have vast experience in gymnastics (of course), dance, acrobatics, ballet, circus, movement development, aerials and trampolining. 

 

We also have a specialist boys’ coaches taking our 7+ boys only classes Mon & Thurs at 5.15pm and Fridays at 3.30pm & 5.30pm!

 

All coaches have passed their NSW Working with Children Check, First Aid, CPR and do regular safeguarding training.

 

Our custom built gymnasium in Edgecliff features high ceilings, air conditioning, loads of great equipment, and a comfortable waiting room with viewing windows creating a perfect environment perfect for gymnasts of all ages.

About the role:

 

For Beginner Coaches we are looking for energetic and enthusiastic gymnasts who are committed to providing a supportive and safe environment where children can develop their gymnastics skills, build confidence, and have fun.

 

About you: 

 

As well as a love of gymnastics we are looking for

 

  • Ability to break down skills into simple, achievable steps and provide positive reinforcement.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to give clear, concise, and age-appropriate instructions to young children. Ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with parents/guardians.
  • Ability to manage a group of young, energetic children, maintain focus, and ensure a structured, productive, and safe environment.
  • High energy, positivity, and a passion for gymnastics and child development. Must be a positive role model.
  • Keen eye for detail to identify technical errors in basic form and provide constructive, supportive corrections.
  • Ability to plan and execute structured lesson plans that are fun, engaging, and progressive.

 

To secure this role, you will need to have:

 

  • Have held a recognized gymnastics coaching certification (international accepted).
  • Proven experience coaching, teaching, or supervising children in the 4-10 age range. Experience in a school, camp, or recreational setting is highly desireable.
  • Solid understanding of basic gymnastics progressions for preschool and beginner-level skills on all apparatus (vault, bars, beam, floor).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of gym safety protocols, proper spotting techniques, and equipment setup/usage and appropriate certs in First Aid & CPR.
