Our Swimming Instructors at Ku-ring-gai Fitness and Aquatic Center are the aquatic artistes training the next generation of swimming superstars. Every day, they lead safe, stimulating and always-fun lessons that build confidence and capability in developing young people.
As a Swimming Instructor at The Y, you won’t just be a strong swimmer. Because you’ll also be a strong communicator, and a dynamic leader – motivating and educating our guests to build strong, active and safe behaviours in the water. You’ll also assist our Swimming Coordinators in creating lesson plans, interacting with parents, taking part in school swimming lessons and Birthday Parties

About you:
You have experience teaching swim lessons to various age groups and skill levels and can assess swimmers' abilities and placing them in the appropriate skill level.
- Knowledge of all competitive strokes (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly), water safety skills, and teaching progressions.
- Ability to provide clear, concise, and encouraging verbal instructions and demonstrations in and out of the water. Must be able to adapt communication style for different ages and learning styles.
- An unwavering focus on safety and risk management. Ability to maintain constant surveillance of students and enforce all pool safety rules.
- High levels of patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to build confidence in nervous or beginner swimmers. Must be encouraging and positive.
- Ability to plan and structure lessons effectively, track student progress, and communicate clearly with parents/guardians. Punctuality and professional conduct are essential.
