We have a rare opportunity for a commercially driven Recreation leader to come and lead the team at The Y Ryde Community Sports Centre to success. The opportunities are endless 

 

 

About your new role:

 

  • As the Centre Manager for The Y Ryde Community Sports Centre you will be responsible for driving business and programs within an agreed operating budget while also ensuring contract compliance requirements are being met.
  • You will be confident with financial and business planning and be able to demonstrate appropriate experience in these areas.
  • We are looking for a dynamic, natural born leader with significant management experience in the sport or recreation/fitness industry.
  • You will have an understanding of and experience in developing and delivering community-based recreation, wellbeing and activity-focused programs in the community would be advantageous.
  • The successful candidate will also have the skills to manage, develop, inspire and motivate staff in their site. You will come with a reputation for thinking strategically, with substantial commercial acumen. 

 

 

 

 What you will come with

 

  • Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline (Sports Management; Business; etc) 
  • Significant industry knowledge and experience of at least 3 - 5 years facility management responsibility at Manager; Assistant Manager; Centre Co-ordinator; or similar level
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills including written and verbal reporting
  • Knowledge of Community Recreation
  • Knowledge of Sports Facility Management
  • Relevant sporting qualifications
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Experience in financial management including developing and managing budgets
  • Highly developed observation and reporting skills
  • Ability to direct and oversee the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate programs, both centre-based and community-hosted, which reflect the needs of the local community.
  • First Aid and CPR qualifications
     

Given the unique nature of the recreation industry, candidates must be flexible to meet the needs of the Centre including some early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays work as required.

Our Recreation Team is a close-knit community of energetic people-people, with a passion for staying active and helping others. From our Duty Managers and Customer Service Officers, to our Instructors and Coordinators, the team are responsible for transforming our 18 Recreation Centres into warm, inclusive and safe spaces – providing access to health, fitness and recreation opportunities for those who need it most.
