About the role
The successful candidate will support our Y Space Cooma programs and activities that provides young people (12 to 18 years old) with an opportunity to engage in activities in their own neighbourhood as well as work on personal, social, and educational development aspects of their lives.
The successful candidate will focus on the development and implementation of engaging activities for young people. By planning and facilitating recreational programs, they play a crucial role in enhancing the social, emotional, and physical well-being of youth, making a lasting impact on their lives.
This role requires strong communication skills, creativity, and a genuine passion for working with young people, as well as the ability to adapt activities to suit different age groups and abilities. Empowering youth to explore their interests, build confidence, and develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify the needs and interests of the youth in the community.
- Develop and implement engaging programs and activities.
- Provide individual and group support to young people, addressing their needs and concerns.
- Foster a safe and inclusive environment where all youth feel valued and respected.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as schools, local council, and community organisations, to provide comprehensive support.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make necessary adjustments.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of youth participation and progress.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of young people within the community.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering programs and activities that promote the well-being and growth of youth in the Snowy Monaro community.
About you
Your passion is to positively impact young people's lives by helping them navigate challenges and achieve their potential. You do this by creating supportive communities and fostering a sense of belonging among young people.
- Formal qualifications in Youth Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with youth in a community or school setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with young people and their families.
- Knowledge of issues affecting youth, such as mental health and wellbeing
- Experience in program development and evaluation.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Licence and access to own vehicle
