About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Manager of Children Services is a pivotal leadership position for Children Services portfolio that comprise of 54 sites across NSW.
As a future-focused leader, you will play a key role in shaping, developing, and leading the portfolio, ensuring a sustainable and viable business now and into the future. You will develop, lead, and drive the Y NSW strategic priorities and objectives for the portfolios and play an integral role in the success of commercial outcomes for the Y NSW.
Leading the transformation of the workforce strategy, you will drive the change needed to enable our purpose and ensure effective and efficient operations.
Responsible for the the portfolio, you will deliver real and tangible impact by driving continuous improvement in Safety, People, Leadership, Quality, Efficiency and Service.
Through strong stakeholder relationships you will advocate for our mission and purpose and ensure the delivery of programs and services that create a positive impact for children and young people and in the communities we serve.
Your average week will include strategic discussions, managing key stakeholders, ensuring operations meet compliance and regulations, setting operational budgets and measuring your people’s performance against operational plans and objectives. You will do this while mentoring, inspiring, and developing a team of truly dedicated people who believe wholeheartedly in quality care and education and the safeguarding of children. Your role will require dynamism, resilience, energy, and the ability to work autonomously and flexibly.

About you
You will be an efficient, innovative, self-driven leader, showing strong commitment to people, purpose, and best practice. You have experience in business transformation, are adaptable, high-energy, and positive, you demonstrate a positive attitude, good communication skills and a have keen eye for detail.
A strong and caring leader with excellent coaching skills you take initiative, adhere to deadlines, and thrive in fast paced operational environments.
Key Selection Criteria:
- 10 years’ experience in a senior leadership role within the Child Care Sector
- Experience in business transformation and change delivery.
- Significant demonstrated experience in workforce management planning.
- Willingness and ability to travel across sites within NSW.
- Experience in delivering high-quality, engaging support and leadership at a senior level to a large and diverse workforce.
- A demonstrated commitment to assisting your teams in meeting budgets, adhering to business plans and other agreed objectives, and facilitating continuous improvement
- Contract management, negotiation, tendering processes and program and service development skills
- A proven ability to set and deliver on a strategy in a complex fast-paced business.
- Experience building successful relationships with stakeholders including government representatives, Board committees and other partners.
- Experience managing and reporting on auditing processes.
- Experience monitoring and reporting on financial performance.
- A drive and commitment to work collaboratively across support and enabling functions to deliver on the Y NSW strategic priorities and objectives.
- Experience promoting programs and developing community partnerships.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to compliance and risk management
- A sincere commitment to the Y NSW mission and values

Qualifications/ Other Requirements
Essential:
- Leadership skills in strategy, relationship development, communication, finance, human resource development and customer service
- Significant operational leadership experience in a similar role within the Child Care Sector (10+ years)
Desirable:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in childcare, business or human resources or similar
