The Risk & Innovation Team drives innovative digital enablement for young people, and leads the risk, safety and safeguarding areas, developing leading-edge capability that sets Y NSW apart from its competitors.  

 

About the role 

 

Reporting directly to the Chief Risk and Innovation Officer (CRIO) the Head of Risk Culture will lead the development and implementation of an organization-wide risk management and excellence framework. 

 

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring The Y NSW implements best practice approaches to managing risk, safety and safeguarding taking the organisation from ‘compliance to excellence’ by empowering, uplifting and inspiring colleagues.  

 

  • Develop and oversee the organisation’s risk management strategy and practices.  

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential risks.  

  • Collaborate with leaders to implement risk management strategies tailored to specific operational areas.  

  • Develop and implement workplace health and safety practices that align with organisational goals and regulatory standards  

  • Oversee worker’s compensation practices and outcomes   

  • Oversee the development, implementation and revision of organisational practices related to risk and compliance.  

  • Ensure risk and compliance policies are regularly reviewed and updated in compliance with regulatory changes and best practice.  

  • Foster a culture of innovation within the risk and compliance framework and encourage proactive identification of new best practice approaches.  

 

About you 

 

You are a strategic thinker able to translate business needs into effective risk management programs and know how to influence at all levels of an organisation.

  

You have developed a suite of skills and knowledge essential for driving business success, not least technology innovation, human centered design, and data-driven decision-making.  

 

  • Minimum of 10+ years' experience in risk management and compliance in a comparable environment. 

  • Tertiary qualified in Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field  

  • Demonstrated ongoing professional development and certifications i.e. Certified Risk Manager (CRM) or Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) 

  • Proven experience leading compliance initiatives and managing risk in large (1000+) organisations.  

  • Experience working in the not-for-profit sector and understanding relevant legislative requirements in NSW.  

  • Expert knowledge of risk management and compliance technology
