About the role 

 

Reporting to the Head of Risk Culture the Quality Excellence Manager is responsible for overseeing compliance and quality assurance across the organisation’s sports, recreation, and outdoor education programs. 

 

The successful candidate will ensure that all activities and facilities meet the highest standards of safety and excellence by increasing front line staff's capacity to provide exceptional service in line with relevant regulations.  

 

  • Review and update policies and procedures to align with current legislation and best practices in recreation and camping. 

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential risks across all business streams. 

  • Develop, implement, and manage quality assurance processes to evaluate the effectiveness and compliance of Recreation and Camping services. 

  • Conduct regular internal audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and promote a culture of excellence 

  • Provide structures, strategies, and processes to empower risk management best practice at all recreation and camping sites operated by Y NSW 

  • Design and deliver training programs for staff and volunteers on compliance requirements, safety practices, and risk management strategies related to recreation and camping. 

  • Identify training needs and collaborate with Learning and Development functions to ensure that staff are trained in risk management practices 

  • Translate complex regulatory matters into easy to comprehend and practical processes and strategies 

  • Develop and execute annual uplift strategy to empower all recreation and camping managers to excel in safety requirements. 

  • Maintain comprehensive records of compliance activities, incident reports, audits, and safety assessments for board and compliance reporting. 

 

You will ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including the NSW Outdoor Education and Recreation Industry Guidelines, the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act and find innovative ways to lift safety to a standard of excellence. 

 

About you 

 

You already have a comprehensive understanding of the regulations governing recreation and outdoor education activities and have the technical and analytical skills to evaluate compliance and maintain high-quality standards.  

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Recreation Management, Outdoor Education, Sport Management, or a related field. 

  • Demonstrated ongoing training and development in risk management, quality assurance, or outdoor education. 

  • Proven functional expertise in quality assurance, compliance management, or occupational health safety and environment. 

  • Proven track record of working with regulatory frameworks, monitoring compliance, and understanding relevant legislative requirements in NSW.
