About the role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Financial Accountant (Revenue) is responsible for the completion of accurate, timely and error-free financial information for YMCA NSW and its benevolent arm.
This role leads the end of month process and includes oversight of the bank, debtor and balance sheet reconciliations, accounts receivable, revenue, general ledger, payroll, banking, cash and cashflow.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring The Y NSW manages the integrity of financial records essential for making informed business decisions.

Lead the month end process, deal with any issues as they arise and, escalate to the Financial Controller where necessary

Oversee the accounts receivable functions including direct debits, invoicing, deferred revenue allocation and reconciliation of any funding agreements

Oversee banking, cash and cashflow

Oversee the accounting for YMCA NSW’s benevolent arm

Lead the year-end close process including end of period adjustments and contract balancing

Oversee the transition processes in the acquisition and exit of businesses and operations

Mentor and oversee assistant accountant(s) including plan, assign and review of their work

Support internal and external audits to ensure compliance

Implement systems, business, and process improvement by leveraging AI, technology, and business intelligence tools

Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Fulfil regulatory reporting compliance requirements for primary and supplementary financial statements and disclosures
About you
You are an experienced professional looking to apply your expertise for a benevolent organisation with a purpose you can be proud of.

Degree qualified in accounting and demonstrated on going professional development including completing CPA or CA certification

Previous responsibility for managing end-to-end accounting processes, month/year end close process and financial reporting.

Advanced MS Excel skills including Power Query, Power BI, Macros & VBA etc.

In-depth understanding of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB)

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
