Our Outdoor Educators are the adventurous go-getters helping children learn and grow in a safe, fun and natural environment. (Literally.) At the Y, we’re after passionate go-getters with a love of all things outdoors to send our young campers home with lasting memories, a strengthened sense of self and community – and a greater connection to the natural world.

Reporting to the Programs Coordinator, you’ll lead adventurous activities and outdoor learning sessions, delivering memorable and meaningful experiences that young people love. You’ll also act as leader, mentor and role model for our young community, including many underprivileged and disadvantaged children.

If you’re an energetic and empathetic leader looking for a fulfilling career in a beautiful and unique working environment, you could be our next Outdoor Educator. If so, you’re in the right place to build confidence, team-building, leadership and independence in others – and yourself.

Our Outdoor Education and Camping Team create unforgettable experiences for schools, youth and young people in need. From our energetic Outdoor Education Instructors to our friendly Housekeepers, Chefs and Administrators, our people build inspiring, entertaining and educational adventures that encourage healthy behaviours in developing kids. As part of The Y family, you’ll be responsible for the care and safety of our young community – all while running exciting activities like camping, canoeing and rock climbing. You’ll also act as a role model for our young guests, teaching valuable life lessons and leading with honesty and respect. If you’re a lover of outdoorsy-action who’s interested in meaningful work with underprivileged youth, we’ll reward you with an exciting career that’s all about creating life-changing memories for the next generation.

Who What Y?

The Y NSW is a profit-for-purpose organisation focused on healthy living, social impact and empowering young people. We operate 24 recreation centres, 53 out-of-school-hours care services, and two camping locations which employ 1,500 staff across NSW –  and fund our diverse range of enriching community programs.

We believe in building a diverse, inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve. We encourage people of all genders, ages, religions, disability, sexual orientation, family and caring responsibilities and cultures, including people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage, to apply.

Commitment to Safeguarding

At the Y, we are committed to empowering all Children and Young People to feel safe and be safe, at the Y, in their families and in their communities. As such, we embed Safeguarding into everything that we do to make sure Children and Young People are kept at the front of our minds in all our programs and services. We also ensure that all our candidates are appropriately screened to make sure that the right people are in the right roles to keep our children and young people safe.
